Why I chose general surgery as a career:
General surgery encompasses a broad range of pathology and I appreciate the immediate gratification of watching patients recover quickly after an operation.

Why I chose the IU School of Medicine General Surgery Residency Program:
As residents, we go to several different hospitals and therefore treat patients of varying socioeconomic status. IU is the only tertiary referral center in Indiana so we treat complex patients. We also get good exposure to trauma and critical care.

Professional/Research Interests:
I will apply for a fellowship in pediatric surgery. I did three years of research in cancer immunotherapy at the National Cancer Institute and hope to do clinical research in the future.

Personal Interests/Hobbies:
I enjoy hiking and backpacking, cooking and listening to bluegrass music.
