Bio

Dr. Idrees earned his medical degree from the University of Punjab and completed an Anatomic and Clinical Pathology residency at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. Subsequently, he performed fellowships in gynecologic pathology, cytopathology, and surgical/genitourinary pathology. After finishing his training, he joined the faculty at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. In 2008, Dr. Idrees relocated to Indiana to pursue his career in genitourinary pathology at the Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Idrees is active in academics at state, national and international levels. He has presented at national and international meetings and has published more than 150 peer-reviewed articles in renowned journals. He has served as an expert for WHO panels for 2016 and 2022 genitourinary tumor classification and has contributed several chapters to the WHO classification and several other pathology books. Dr. Idrees has served on multiple committees at the University level, including medical school student selection and executive selection committees. Currently, he is a tenured and titled professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. He has served as the director of pathology laboratories and vice chair of clinical pathology at the IU academic health center between 2020-2023. He additionally has the charge of directing the Immunohistochemistry clinical and research laboratories. He is the director of genitourinary pathology fellowship program, the only ACGME accredit program in nation.  Dr. Idrees loves teaching and is the director of physician observer programs and recruit many of the pathology residents through this international outreach platform. Dr. Idrees is currently pursuing Executive physician MBA program at Kelley School of Business. Dr. Idrees resides in Carmel and is a great proponent of keeping a healthy life and work balance. He likes to travel, read, hike, play cricket and spend time with his wife and four children.
