Jenalee Cooksey, MD
Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery
Why I chose general surgery as a career: What I like about general surgery is that you have the procedural aspect of things, but you still get to spend time with patients on the floor and in clinic. I like the instant gratification of being able to fix someone’s problem.
Why I chose the IU School of Medicine General Surgery Residency Program: I was a medical student at IUSM and spent a great deal of time with the residents. I love the people here. I also had an interest in trauma and we see quite a bit here.
Professional/Research Interests: Surgical nutrition, trauma and critical care, general surgery
Personal Interests/Hobbies: Spending time with my family and my dog, running, rock climbing, hanging out by my pool
