Cory J. Pitre, MD

Assistant Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine


Originally from South Louisiana, Dr. Pitre is a graduate of Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, where he trained at Charity Hospital. He completed Emergency Medicine residency training at Indiana University where he served as Chief Resident. After a brief stint in community medicine, Dr. Pitre joined the IUEM faculty in 2005. He works clinically in the IU Health Methodist Hospital Emergency Department.

Dr. Pitre serves as the Program Director for the Indiana University School of Medicine Transitional Year Residency. His academic interests include clinical education, transitions in medical education, professional sustainability, and educational leadership. He has previously served as the Statewide Patient Care Competency Director for the IU School of Medicine, and he has taught numerous sessions and courses for the Indiana University School of Medicine. Nationally, he has taught for the American Academy of Emergency Medicine’s Oral Boards Review Course.
