Bio
A nationally renowned educator and master-clinician dedicated to the care of her patients, Dr. Veda Ackerman joined the IU School of Medicine (IUSM) faculty in 1988. Since that time, she has served her patients and IUSM in many ways. Currently, she is Medical Director of the Critical Care Advanced Practice Providers (APP). In this role, she provides oversight of APP clinical duties. Her passion for instruction and training have helped grow this model from one provider to a cohesive team.
Dr. Ackerman launched the Home Ventilator program in 1989. She has gone on to become a nationally recognized expert in pediatric home ventilation.
Dr. Ackerman has been involved with numerous quality improvement processes. including clinical documentation and billing. She is an expert in differential and rare diagnoses, regularly called on by colleagues to discuss complex or unusual cases. An avid educator, she loves to teach at all levels, helping to shape tomorrow's providers.
In her spare time, Dr. Ackerman enjoys spending time in the Florida sunshine, entertaining family and guests. A friend of the furry persuasion, she and her husband are proud parents of two dogs.
