Bio

Michele Saysana has been a Hospitalist with the Department of Pediatrics in IU School of Medicine and Riley Hospital for Children since 2002. Prior to this, she was a community pediatrician in Indianapolis. She served as the Director of the Pediatric Hospitalist Program from 2009 – 2011.  She has served as the Medical Director of Quality and Safety for Riley Hospital for Children from 2011 - 2017. In 2017, she became the Chief Quality and Safety Officer for Indiana University Health.   She has served as advisor to the IU School of Medicine patient safety residency council and developed an elective in patient safety. She is clinical educator in both the medical student clerkship, pediatric residency program, and the pediatric hospitalist fellowship. She has been a mentor to faculty, fellows, and residents. She has presented locally and nationally on issues related to patient safety, family centered care and faculty development. She has had roles in the Children's Hospital Association Quality and Safety Leaders Forum as well as the American Academy of Pediatrics Value in Inpatient Pediatrics Network Steering Committee.  She serves on the Children’s Hospitals Solutions for Patient Safety Clinical Steering Team.
