Public Health Scholarly Concentration

This scholarly concentration provides foundational knowledge in public health including overaching aspects of the U.S. health system and health system organization, cultural and political trends impacting public health, and historical contributions of public health to life expectancy and quality of life. The concentration also explores causes of death and disability, key terms and concepts related to public health, local and global factors that determine health at a population level, and evidence-based interventions and evaluations.
