Medical students get the opportunity to work in a wide range of medical research labs on the Evansville campus throughout the academic year.

Medical Research

Faculty at Indiana University School of Medicine–Evansville have a wide depth and breadth of expertise in some of the most crucial areas of medical research. Anchored by the Mary O’Daniel Stone and Bill Stone Center for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, IU School of Medicine–Evansville is a leader in the Midwest for psychiatric and neuroscience research for children and adolescents. Researchers at the Stone Center pursue innovative therapies that alter and advance the treatment of bipolar disorder and other mood disorders through a dramatically expanded research team and first-of-its-kind data lake.

The Evansville campus offers a wide array of opportunities for students and residents to work alongside these scientists. Additionally, the school maintains strong ties to local healthcare organizations conducting clinical trials and quality improvement initiatives in Southwest Indiana.

Research Training

Several research opportunities are available to students at the Evansville campus and throughout the community. Students can access research training opportunities through summer research programs and the Scholarly Concentration: Quality and Innovation in Healthcare. Through these programs and partnerships, students have the opportunity to work with IU School of Medicine Southwest Indiana residents and faculty in internal medicine, family medicine, and psychiatry.
