Bio

Dr. Clint Bahler completed medical school at Indiana University School of Medicine after finishing a degree in biomedical engineering at Purdue University with highest distinction. He completed his urologic surgery residency at Indiana University School of Medicine and chose to undergo additional specialty fellowship training in da Vinci robotic surgery with Dr. Chandru Sundaram at IU School of Medicine. His areas of clinical interest are prostate cancer and kidney cancer.

Dr. Bahler performs single port robotic surgery (da Vinci SP) in addition to multi-port (da Vinci Xi) robotic surgery.  He also performs advanced surgical techniques such as "Retzius Sparing" robotic prostatectomy to preserve urinary control and minimize incontinence.  A post-surgery guide can be found here: Recovery after robotic surgery.

Dr. Bahler enjoys bringing medical advances to patients and is currently a NIH funded (R01) principal investigator for a clinical trial using advanced PSMA-based imaging in prostate cancer (LINK) and using novel surgical techniques in kidney cancer (LINK).

  • Clinical Interests

Dr. Bahler's clinical interests are minimally invasive surgical treatment approaches for prostate cancer and kidney cancer. Dr. Bahler prefers a personalized approach to the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer by utilizing new blood tests and genetic tests in addition to PSA and advanced imaging (MRI-fusion biopsy).  High risk or aggressive prostate cancer is treated with robotic assisted removal of the prostate and lymph nodes.  Prostate cancer that is localized within the prostate gland may be treated with HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound), which is an outpatient surgery with fewer side effects (LINK).

Dr. Bahler performs single port robotic surgery (da Vinci SP) in addition to multi-port (da Vinci Xi) robotic surgery.  He also performs advanced surgical techniques such as "Retzius Sparing" robotic prostatectomy to preserve urinary control and minimize incontinence.
