Psychology Internship Admissions
In order to be considered for admission to the Psychology Internship program beginning July of each year, applicants must submit a completed application via the APPIC Online Application Portal no later than November 1 of previous year.
In late November each year, applicants are notified by email whether or not they are invited for an interview. Approximately 50 applicants are invited to Indianapolis on one of two interview dates, when applicants receive an overview of the program, meet with faculty and current interns, and tour training facilities. Each applicant participates in at least two individual interviews with faculty members.
If invited for an interview, applicants have their photo taken during their visit to help faculty accurately recall each applicant. The photos, in no way, are used for decision-making or evaluation purposes.
The program adheres to all APPIC Policies throughout the application and selection process. Applicants may elect to apply to more than one track but must indicate in a cover letter which track(s) they would like to pursue.
House Staff Appointment
Interns admitted to the program are appointed to the House Staff of IU School of Medicine for 12 calendar months beginning July 1 and ending June 30. Upon appointment to the House Staff, interns complete a contract issued by the Graduate Medical Education (GME) Office and are expected to abide by the employment terms and policies of the IU School of Medicine House Staff.
