Pediatric Track

Residents on the pediatric track in the Clinical Neuropsychology Residency conduct outpatient neuropsychological assessments on referral from pediatric neurology, oncology, neurosurgery, developmental pediatrics, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and psychiatry departments. Patient diagnoses can include seizure, epilepsy, concussion, traumatic brain injury, brain tumor, leukemia, stroke, chromosomal abnormalities, spina bifida, hydrocephalus or neurofibromatosis. Residents have expanding roles in clinical interview, testing, report writing and feedback to patient, family and referral sources as experience dictates. Caseload is two to three outpatient consultations per week. In addition, residents also participate in sub-rotations in neuro-oncology and physical medicine and rehabilitation take place at IU Health Riley Hospital for Children.

Sub-rotations

Residents attend neuroradiology conferences and provide consultation to a neuro-oncology multi-disciplinary clinic.

Residents attend case conferences, provide cognitive assessment and consultation to an inpatient rehabilitation unit, and supervise consultations to traumatic brain injury multi-disciplinary clinic.

*Patients may be added on other days due to cancellations/no-shows, particularly on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. In addition, inpatient testing may be added to the schedule, as well as testing patients for research protocols.

Pediatric Track Opportunities

Residents in this track have the opportunity to attend the pediatric epilepsy case conference, child neurology rounds, pediatric neuro-radiology conference, observe the developmental pediatrics transition clinic and participate in the Pediatric Brain Tumor Board.
