Bio

Equal fascination as a child with athletics and science led Robert G. Klitzman, MD, to a career in medicine.
He grew up in northwest Indiana playing sports and following his favorite professional teams while excelling in his biology and anatomy classes at school. Becoming an orthopaedic surgery with a specialty in sports medicine seemed like a perfect fit.
Klitzman attended the University of Oklahoma, earning both his bachelor’s degree and medical degree from the institution before returning to his Hoosier home to begin practicing. Now, he treats athletes at all levels and specializes in arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder and knee.
Both of Klitzman’s parents worked in education, so he felt an immediate affinity when joining the faculty at Indiana University School of Medicine. He works hard each day to teach the residents he trains to see the whole patient and not just their injury.
