Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine

The Division of Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine is based at Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health in Indianapolis. This multi-disciplinary team of pediatric specialists participates in training the next generation of Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine physicians and help patients with physically disabling conditions learn to navigate life.

Clinical Care

Using a holistic approach that treats the whole person—not simply symptoms and disease—Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine faculty ensure that each child receives the best in care and a customized treatment plan based on their medical and rehabilitation goals, their medical status, psychological capabilities and age. Conditions treated include traumatic brain injury, acquired brain injury, anoxic brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury, neuro-oncology diagnoses, neuromuscular disorders, cerebral palsy, neuromuscular disorders, burn injuries, chronic pain, limb deficiency and functional neurologic disorders.

Working with patients and families, this team of rehabilitation specialists help minimize the impact of a child’s disability to meet medical, behavioral, educational and social needs. They strive to maximize each child’s ability to participate in daily life.

Riley Hospital is the only comprehensive care children’s hospital in Indiana, with extensive specialty care in all areas of pediatrics.
