Bio

Educating, Advocating and Volunteering for the Histotechnology Profession

Debra Wood joined the Indiana University School of Medicine, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine as faculty in 2004. After working as a histotechnologist in both clinical and veterinary labs she had a desire to teach. She now puts all of her energy into teaching histotechnology principles and techniques to college students in over 400 laboratories nationwide.

As a volunteer she serves on the: National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) volunteering as a member of the Review Committee for Accredited Programs (RCAP), site visitor and paper reviewer for programs going through the accreditation process; American Society for Pathology as Chairperson for the - Histotechnology (ASCP) HT/HTL Exam Committee and member of the Scholarship committee; and National Society for Histotechnology (NSH) as credentialing chair and lead of the Instructors of Histotechnology group.

Passionate about histotechnology, education and service to the profession the position of program director for a distance education program seemed like the perfect fit.
