Head and Neck Surgery Division

The Head and Neck Surgery Division in the Department of Otolaryngology specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of cancers and other conditions specifically affecting the head and neck:

  • Cutaneous head and neck cancer (melanoma, squamous cell, basal cell)
  • Craniomaxillofacial trauma
  • Throat cancer surgery
  • Skull base cancer
  • Human papillomavirus (HPV)-related cancer
  • Salivary gland neoplasms
  • Mucosal neoplasms
  • Microvascular free tissue transfer/complex reconstruction

Faculty physicians are nationally recognized and often referred for complex cases that require a team of health care professionals. The Head and Neck Division leads a Multidisciplinary Oncology Conference each week, where experts from several departments (e.g. radiology, oncology, dermatology and oral pathology) collectively review and discuss best care plans for individuals with cancer. This team ensures the personalized treatments meet National Comprehensive Cancer Network guidelines for evidence-based treatment. More than 400 patients each year benefit from the Head and Neck Oncology Conference.
