Faculty Research

The overall research focus of the Department of Ophthalmology continues to expand with new and exciting discoveries currently under investigation. This important work would not be possible without the support of partner organizations, including Glick Family Foundation, the Central Indiana Community Foundation and Research to Prevent Blindness.

Research Leadership

Working with interim director, Ashay Bhatwadekar, PhD, the basic and translational science research division of the department consists of more than a dozen scientists, both professional and student, working on novel and innovative discoveries in vision research. The clinical research division, led by Kathryn Haider, MD, combines a collaborative international team of world-class vision researchers.
