The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is part of a satellite location of the Cochrane Pregnancy and Childbirth group (PCG). Cochrane is an international, not-for-profit organization dedicated to making health care readily available worldwide. The group produces and distributes reviews of health care interventions while promoting the search for evidence through clinical trials and other studies. As part of the satellite location serving the United States, the department is a leader in advocating for the use of Cochrane evidence in obstetrics.
The Cochrane U.S. PCG fellowship is a full-time research fellowship. The fellow is expected to participate in all the activities of the satellite, including training workshops, learning the methodology of doing a Cochrane review, producing one to three Cochrane reviews per year and mastering the software systems utilized in Cochrane reviews. The fellow also receives funding to attend the annual Cochrane Colloquium, an international meeting typically held in October.
