Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Neurology is home to the only designated Parkinson’s Foundation Center of Excellence in Indiana. This recognition indicates that IU School of Medicine Department of Neurology faculty are experts in providing state-of-the-art comprehensive services for people with Parkinson’s disease.
The school’s Department of Neurology is located in the IU Health Neuroscience Center, a state-of-the-art outpatient center that unites all the specialties that involve neuroscience, including neurology, neurosurgery, psychiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation, neuropsychology, and neuroradiology.
The department’s interdisciplinary team of movement disorder specialists provide services that include
- Clinical care by five movement disorders physicians
- Clinical trials
- Deep Brain Stimulation Surgery
- Neuro-psychiatry, and neuropsychology evaluations, and psychological counseling
- Physical therapy, Occupational therapy, Speech therapy
- Art therapy
- Genetic counseling
