Bio

Adam D. Comer, MD is an assistant professor of clinical neurology. Dr. Comer specializes in electromyography (EMG), neuromuscular ultrasound and neuromuscular diseases. He is dedicated to providing his patients with the highest quality care possible. Additionally, he is passionate about medical education and clinical research. Dr. Comer’s clinical practice is dedicated to the diagnosis and management of conditions such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, myasthenia gravis, muscular dystrophies and peripheral neuropathy.

Dr. Comer serves as co-director of the Myotonic Dystrophy Clinic at Indiana University Health, the first of its kind in Indiana. Dr. Comer is the first individual in Indiana to receive the Neuromuscular Ultrasound Certificate of Added Qualification from the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine. He serves on local and national committees related to neuromuscular ultrasound.

His research interests include myotonic dystrophy and neuromuscular ultrasound. He is currently conducting research in adult patients with myotonic dystrophy type 1. Additionally, he serves as a clinical trial investigator or sub-investigator on multiple neuromuscular research studies. 

Dr. Comer completed his neurology residency and EMG fellowship at Indiana University School of Medicine. During residency, he was chief resident at the Roudebush VA Medical Center.  Dr. Comer received the Indiana University School of Medicine Trustees Teaching Award in 2021. He is the Adult Neurology Residency Associate Program Director at Indiana University School of Medicine and enjoys his role in medical education.
