Bio

Lisa Smith, MD received her medical degree from the University of Hawaii and completed her residency in Pediatrics at the Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. After serving in the Army for 13 years, she then completed her Pediatric Neurology residency and later her fellowship in clinical neurophysiology at Indiana University Health Riley Hospital for Children, and joined the faculty in 2008. Smith is the head of the Pediatric Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, a six-bed unit at Riley Hospital for the monitoring and evaluation of patients with epilepsy. She also is a part of the multidisciplinary Pediatric Epilepsy surgery team providing comprehensive evaluations for possible epilepsy surgery for children with seizures that have proven to be refractory to medications. She also participates in the Ketogenic Diet clinic. She is one of only two pediatric neurologists in the state of Indiana performing EMG and nerve conduction studies in pediatric patients and is a part of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) multidisciplinary clinic at Riley Hospital. In addition to her interests in epilepsy and neuromuscular diseases, Smith also has a special interest in neurocutaneous diseases, particularly tuberous sclerosis complex and heads the Neurofibromatosis Clinic at Riley Hospital.
