Dr. Witt's clinical specialty is neurological surgery, with an emphasis on stereotactic radiosurgery and deep brain stimulation for managing the neurological effects of movement disorders and epilepsy. He uses both open and minimally invasive surgical procedures to treat the devastating effects of medically intractable epilepsy. These procedures have been the topics of numerous presentations and courses delivered to local and national audiences over the past 20 years. His research efforts have received funding from IU, industry sponsors, and NIH. Publications related to his work have appeared in peer-reviewed journals, including Annals of Neurology, Clinical Neurophysiology, Epilepsia, Experimental Neurology, Neurology, Journal of Neurosurgery, and Neurosurgery Clinics of North America.

Academically, Dr. Witt is an Associate Professor of Neurological Surgery in the Department of Neurological Surgery, where he teaches neurology and neurosurgery courses for medical students and residents. Within the School of Medicine, he is Co-Director of the Indiana Lions Gamma Knife Center, the Movement Disorder Surgery Program, and the IU Comprehensive Epilepsy Program.

Dr. Thomas Witt was born and raised in a small town in the San Francisco Bay Area. He attended college and medical school at the University of California, Davis, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physiology in 1984, followed by a Doctor of Medicine degree in 1988. Dr. Witt then completed a one-year internship in general surgery, and a five-year residency in neurosurgery at the Indiana University Medical Center.
