Nephrology Clinical Care
Nephrologists at IU School of Medicine are committed to the research, treatment and prevention of kidney diseases, including acute and chronic renal failure, complications of chronic dialysis treatment, hypertension, kidney stones, and cystic disease. Faculty physicians in this division believe it is important for patients to recognize their ability to remain in control of their lives and are committed to providing patients with outstanding care and the therapy that best fits patients’ lifestyles.
The team participates in both regional and national paired donation programs and provides a well-established living donor (kidney) program with 45-50 percent of kidney transplants done annually from living donors—both directed and non-directed.
Outreach clinics for evaluation of pre-kidney transplant patients are held in Evansville, Merrillville, Lafayette , South Bend and Fort Wayne as well as at IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis. The transplant team includes experienced nephrologists and surgeons with extensive experience in the care of the pre-transplant and transplant patient.
