Bio

Michael Overdorf works in Corporate Business Development at Lilly where he leads the company’s deal transactions team to access potential new innovative medicines for Lilly across all therapeutic areas, deal types, and stages of development.  Previously, Michael served as Vice President of Corporate Strategy & Business Transformation at Lilly where he led the development of the company’s global strategy, the implementation of key strategic initiatives, and was accountable for delivering financial savings through the company’s transformation initiatives.

Michael received a Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, in Economics with a Minor in Philosophy from Wabash College in 1992.  He received his MBA from Harvard Business School in 1999.  Prior to joining Lilly in 2001, Michael served as Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Innosight, and was Harvard Business School’s first Dean’s Research Fellow. Michael is the co-author of the Harvard Business Review article: “Meeting the Challenge of Disruptive Change”, which was recently named one of HBR’s “Top 10 Essential Must Reads”.

During his 18 years at Lilly, Michael has held a number of strategic, commercial, and development leadership roles.  He started with Lilly in Corporate Strategy and then moved into various positions in Sales and Marketing, including Brand Manager and Sales Manager.  He worked in the UK as Chief Marketing Officer and Specialty Care Business Unit Leader of Lilly’s UK Affiliate, worked in Prague where he was the Managing Director of Lilly’s Affiliates in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and he was the leader of Strategy & Operations for Lilly’s BioMedicines Business Unit.  Michael also served as Global Brand Development Leader within Lilly’s Immunology therapeutic area where he led the Phase 3 Development programs for tabalumab and ixekizumab (Taltz).

Michael is also the former Chair and current Board member of The International Center of Indiana and was the capital campaign co-chair for the Indiana Youth Group.  He and his wife, Amy, live in Carmel, IN and have a daughter who is a PhD candidate at Indiana University.
