Advanced Scholars Program for Internists in Research and Education

The Advanced Scholars Program for Internists in Research and Education (ASPIRE) at Indiana University School of Medicine empowers faculty members to develop and implement scholarly work in their area of interest. The program provides salary support, mentoring and skills training in a close-knit community of colleagues.

Support for Scholars

Scholars receive 20 percent salary support for one year to implement their project and 10 percent support for an additional six months (three months to implement their project and three months to write final project results with expert coaching). Each scholar works closely with a nationally recognized faculty mentor from IU School of Medicine, IUPUI, the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center or Regenstrief Institute.

Testimonial

As a busy clinician educator, I have always had the interest but not the time or skills to actually realize scholarship goals that are so critical for a successful career in academic medicine… ASPIRE has been everything I had hoped it would be.
