Bio

Dr. Lardaro joined the IU School of Medicine (IUSM) Department of Emergency Medicine faculty in 2016 and currently practices emergency medicine at the IU Health Methodist Emergency Medicine and Trauma Center and the Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital in downtown Indianapolis. Outside of his clinical duties, Dr. Lardaro serves as the medical director for IU Health LifeLine, the largest and most comprehensive emergency medical services (EMS) and patient transport agency in Indiana. 

While at IUSM, Dr. Lardaro previously served as the deputy medical director for Indianapolis EMS, medical director for Indianapolis Fire Department, and commissioner for the Indiana Department of Homeland Security EMS Commission. 

Dr. Lardaro was awarded the IU Health Values Leadership Award for demonstrating ‘extraordinary dedication to IU Health values at work and in the community’ in the fall of 2021, the IUSM Trustee Teaching Award by the Indiana University Board of Trustees to recognize outstanding teaching in the medical school in the spring of 2021, and the Kevin G. Rodgers Excellence in Clinical Education Award through the Department of Emergency Medicine in the spring of 2017. 

Dr. Lardaro grew up in Rhode Island and studied Biological Sciences at the University of Connecticut where he graduated summa cum laude. He worked for two years as a researcher in molecular and cell biology at Harvard Medical School prior to attending medical school at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. While in medical school, Dr. Lardaro was selected for the Pre-doctoral Clinical Research Training Program where he gained advanced research training and his Master of Public Health degree in Epidemiologic and Biostatistical Methods for Public Health and Clinical Research at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. 

While pursuing his emergency medicine residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, he worked as a full crew member/flight physician for Vanderbilt LifeFlight. Dr. Lardaro completed his EMS fellowship at the University of Cincinnati Department of Emergency Medicine where he also had the privilege of practicing as a flight physician with UC Air Care during his time in Cincinnati.

Dr. Lardaro is board certified in Emergency Medicine and in the subspecialty of Emergency Medical Services through the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
