Bio

Dr. Pang was born in Dearborn, Michigan and raised in a small town (Newark) in upstate New York. He graduated from Brown University in 1995 and after a year in Boston, went to medical school at the University of Texas - San Antonio.  He returned to Boston for Emergency Medicine residency at Brigham & Woman's and Massachusetts General Hospital combined Harvard program, serving as Chief Resident in his 4th year. His first faculty position was at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.  After 10 years, he left as Associate Chief and the Associate Director of Experimental Therapeutics within the Center for Cardiovascular Innovation under the leadership of Dr. Robert Bonow. In 2014, he moved to Indiana University School of Medicine, where he is clinical faculty at both the Methodist and Eskenazi Emergency Departments.  

His academic passion is acute heart failure, having been mentored by Mihai Gheorghiade.  He has published over 160 peer reviewed publications.  He has been the PI for an AHRQ R01, an R34 funded by NHLBI, as well as from the AHA.  He has participated or led multiple other clinical research studies and programs.  In 2018, he became the Vice Chair for Strategic Innovation. In 2019 he became the Vice Chair for Operations and Clinical Strategy and then the Interim Chair in October of 2019. In October 2020, he became the Rolly McGrath Professor and Chair.

He has been married for 20 years to the most awesome and amazing wife in the world, Jennifer. They have two sons, Joshua and Jonathan, both avid soccer players and video game fans.
