Jonathan M. Kirschner, MD

Jonathan is a New Jersey native, graduating from Rutgers University with a BA in Biological Sciences.  After a semester at University of Queensland in Brisbane Australia, he earned his MD from New York University School of Medicine where his interest in clinical epidemiology and evidence-based practice began.  He remained in New York City to complete a residency in Emergency Medicine at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center where he was selected Chief Resident in 2009.  He was recruited to Indiana University School of Medicine as Assistant Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine directly following residency training and started clinical work at IU Health Methodist Hospital Emergency Medicine and Trauma Center in 2010.  He earned board certification in Emergency Medicine the following year.

Jonathan has contributed to EBM education both locally and internationally.  Currently, he serves as Statewide Course Director for the IUSM EBM course and leads the IUSM Emergency Medicine Residency EBM Curriculum and Journal Club.  He educates faculty internationally on teaching evidence-based practice and is an advocate of shared decision-making.  He publishes on a variety of topics in Emergency Medicine, including brief critiques of systematic reviews for Annals of Emergency Medicine's Evidence-based Emergency Medicine section.   

Jonathan is a proud husband and father of two and loves to spend time outdoors, hiking, running, and enjoying the finer things in life.
