Luke C. Schafer, MD

Luke spent his early years on a small farm in Illinois; then grew up in northern Indiana. He attended Saint Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, IN, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Mathematics and a minor in Secondary Education. He spent the year leading up to medical school teaching Trigonometry and Calculus at a High School near West Lafayette.

He attended Indiana University School of Medicine and graduated in 2008. Luke recently completed his Emergency Medicine training here at Indiana University and joined the faculty at Eskenazi Memorial Hospital in 2011.

Luke’s medical interests include pain management and critical care medicine, with a passion to become more involved in international medicine. He spent several sojourns in Mexico prior to medical school on mission teams.

In the meantime, he is busy raising and homeschooling his family with his wife Andria. They have 5 very active boys and much of his spare time is spent attempting to direct their endless energies toward something productive. Luke enjoys construction, landscaping and wood splitting (essentially anything that involves tools and saws: a passion he shares with his sons).
