Medical students get the opportunity to work in a wide range of medical research labs on the Muncie campus throughout the academic year.

Medical Research

All full-time tenured or tenure-track IU School of Medicine-Muncie faculty are involved in research, and the campus includes research laboratory spaces to facilitate advanced medical research programs. Relationships between Ball State University and academic departments within the IU School of Medicine encourage collaborative research programs and the expansion of graduate programs. IU School of Medicine faculty statewide are encouraged to include money for postdoctoral fellows when writing grant proposals.

The Summer Research Scholarship is awarded to a student during the summer between their first and second year who is interested in doing research with a faculty member at IU School of Medicine’s Muncie campus. The total amount of this scholarship is $4,200.
