Bio

Dr. Beliveau graduated summa cum laude from Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut and attended medical school at New York Medical College. She served in the US Navy, where she was ICU director for her 3 year tenure. She completed 18 months of a Hematology-Oncology fellowship at Baystate Medical Center. She began one of the first General Medicine Consultation services in the nation, directed student clerkships, and was an associate program director for both an Internal Medicine residency program and a Geriatric fellowship at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Ma. In 2000, she moved to Minnesota to join the staff of the Mayo Clinic. She worked in the Division of General Internal Medicine, and was the education coordinator of the Medicine Consultation Service. Margaret’s professional passions include medical education, the breadth of ambulatory general internal medicine, medical consultation/perioperative medicine, and continuing medical education. She was one of the founders of the Mayo Clinic Perioperative Medicine Course, now in its 13th year. She served as the co-director of the Mayo Clinic Internal Medicine Board Review Course for 10 years. She also speaks at the ACP MOC Board Review Course. She spoke at the 2018 ACP Annual Meeting on “Perioperative Care of the Elderly”, and “Delirium in the Hospitalized Patient”. She was an invited speaker at the Central American ACP meeting in Panama City, Panama. Dr. Beliveau was an associate editor for both the Alliance of Academic Internal Medicine’s Textbook for Today Chief Medical Resident and the Mayo Clinic Internal Medicine Board Review book. She established a perioperative service at Billings Clinic, in Billings, Montana and was a member of the core faculty for the Internal Medicine residency. She also served as the assistant program director for scholarship at the Billings Clinic, as well as the regional dean for the Rosalind Franklin, Chicago Medical School. She recently took on the position of Associate Program Director for the Southwest Indiana internal medicine residency program.
