Doctor of Philosophy Degrees in Medical Sciences

The Medical Sciences Program at IU School of Medicine—Bloomington offers graduate degrees in Cell, Molecular and Cancer Biology and Anatomy. Two pathways lead to the PhD degree:

Admission to the graduate program and financial aid options depend on the degree being pursued. These degree programs are administered by the University Graduate School on the IU Bloomington campus.

Financial Support

All students admitted to a PhD program at IU School of Medicine-Bloomington receive some form of stipend to cover living expenses during the academic year and summer. Financial support is guaranteed for five years and may come in the form of:

  • Teaching Assistantship
  • Research Assistantship
  • Training Grant
  • Individual Fellowship

IU School of Medicine also provides graduate students with health insurance. The current yearly stipend is $27,000/year.
