What is your position at the Ruth Lilly Medical Library? I am the Research & Scholarly Communications Librarian, and the liaison to several different departments.
How long have you been working at the library? My first day at RLML was Aug 1, 2018. This is my first position after earning my MLIS. Before graduate school I was a lab manager for a children’s (non-clinical) sleep lab.
What do you like most about your job or the library? Utilizing my skills to help clinicians, faculty, students, and staff is always so gratifying. Everyone at IUSM and IUPUI is doing amazing work, and can always use help from the library to make their lives easier. I love assisting people with a database search strategy and the relief they experience when they see the results. Learning about my patrons’ different projects and research is so incredible and inspiring as well! I am always glad to be a part of their journey.
What is your favorite food/ favorite place to eat? When I want to celebrate something, I like to eat sushi! I enjoy ordering from Asaka Japanese Restaurant. Pro tip: they are least busy on Wednesdays, and you get a discount if you pay cash!
Where is your favorite place to travel? My favorite thing to do in Colorado, where I’m from, is to soak in hot springs. One of my favorite places is Glenwood Hot Springs: the largest outdoor hot springs pool in the world! While I don’t particularly love camping, I still try and go every summer with my family. The good thing about Colorado is I can usually sniff out (literally… sulfur anyone?) a hot springs pool in a nearby town from our campground and demand we go swimming! It is also fun to go to hot springs in the winter. It’s pretty magical when it’s snowing!
If you were to write a book about yourself, what would the title be? Whatever Forever
