Class of 2022: Apply for Medical Student Council leadership positions by August 15

Do you want to make a difference in the lives of IU School of Medicine students statewide? Interested in learning more about the inner workings ofIU School of Medicine students statewide? How about increasing your network and gaining the resources necessary to effect change? We invite you to run for a position with the IU School of Medicine’s statewide Medical Student Council (MSC).

MSC is your student government. We are a democratic group of student leaders who discuss important issues and vote on a variety of topics. Our goal is to further improve IU School of Medicine students statewide as a unified whole. We host monthly town hall-style meetings which are open to the entire student body.

Applications are now open. If you are in the Class of 2022 you can run for an MSC position. The following positions are available for a one-phase term. To learn more MSC and the responsibilities of each position, as well as the election process, please check out our website. Keep in mind that you should have a good understanding of each position you run for.

Open Leadership Positions

  • Class of 2022 President
  • Class of 2022 Vice President
  • Class of 2022 Treasurer
  • Class of 2022 House (Campus) Representative
    • Each of the nine campuses will need at least one representative, meaning there are at least nine positions open.The number of Representatives chosen is individually decided by each House.

If you are interested in running, we strongly encourage you to reach out a person currently in the position that you are interested in (see our leadership team) to learn more and see if it would be a good fit for you. MSC Vice President of Leadership, Ben Stivers (bdstiver@iu.edu), is also happy to speak with any potential candidates regardless of position sought.

To apply, please submit a one-two page platform including your background, qualifications, interest in a specific position, and goals if elected (photo optional). Be sure to mention how you would like to leave your personal footprint on IU School of Medicine. If selected for a position, you are highly encouraged to attend Leadership Orientation Day on Saturday, September 8 from 10:00am-2:00pm.

Platforms and applications are due to bdstiver@iu.edu by Wednesday, August 15 at 11:59pm. Voting will subsequently open Thursday, August 16 at 8:00am and close Sunday, August 19 at 12:00pm.
