Participate in Gold Humanism Honor Society Solidarity Week

This year’s Solidarity Week will be from February 15 through February 19! The national Gold Humanism Honor Society office established National Solidarity Day for Compassionate Care in 2011 to highlight the national movement promoting provider-patient relationships based on caring, personalization and mutual respect. Momentum gathered particularly after the Senate passed a resolution in 2013 and 2014 to officially recognize Solidarity Day on the national calendar, and it is now typically celebrated on or around Valentine’s Day. In 2016, many chapters celebrated a week of events instead of just one day.

There are a few ways to spread the love and compassion statewide. Check it out below! If you want to share your participation on social media, use the hashtag #SolidarityWeek and tag @goldftdn

Notes for CompassionNotecard with heart

.

While a few of our Gold Humanism Honor Society (GHHS) members will be handing out notes for compassion in the hospital, we encourage you to participate by writing notes to your friends, colleagues, family, etc. A fun Valentine’s Day-themed template is here for your convenience, but you can use whatever you would like! From telling a friend how they inspire you to thanking a neighbor for that cup of sugar they gave you, a few words of compassion can go a long way.

Medicine is a world full of great mentors, faculty and school leadership. In a normal year, our faculty work tirelessly to make sure we get a great education whether we are sitting in lectures or rounding on the wards. The virtual world has demanded much innovation and patience from all of us involved. We encourage you to take a moment and write a kudos for a faculty member who has impacted your education the last year. Just fill it out and we will make sure the kudos gets delivered!

However you choose to celebrate with us during Solidary Week, know that the Gold Humanism Honor Society wishes you a rewarding medical career and continued dedication to lifelong learning of compassionate, humanistic medicine.

With all of our love,

Gold Humanism Honor Society | Class of 2021
