The 2025 Association of Academic Psychiatry (AAP) Medical Student Essay Contest is looking for entries from qualified medical students by its June 1 deadline. The theme is "The Art of Communication in Psychiatry: Connecting with the Patient."
Your essay must be an original unpublished essay of 1,000 words or less. Only one submission will be accepted. Review the publication criteria.
The winner will receive a complimentary registration to the 2025 AAP Annual Meeting in Milwaukee in September, where the essay will be presented. Up to $1,000 for meeting-related travel, hotel, and meal expenses will also be provided.
The top essay may be considered for publication in the Academic Psychiatry Journal in "The Learners' Voice" section—there is no guarantee of publication.
