While most COVID-19 restrictions at IU School of Medicine have been lifted or lessened—including masking and travel policies—it is still important to exercise caution and self-awareness in order to keep the school community safe.
Travel
With travel, both for business and pleasure, opening back up, it is imperative that members of the school community continue to observe safety measures and protocols. For those who have been away on travel, consider taking an asymptomatic test before returning to work—free, drop-off testing is available through the university on campuses in Bloomington, IUPUI, Northwest and South Bend. Tests are available off campus at locations throughout the state, as well as through at-home test kits.
Pay attention to symptoms
Anyone experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 should stay home, self-isolate and get tested. IU offers a symptom checker that allows faculty, staff and students to schedule a symptomatic test.
Report your positive test
If the COVID-19 test was performed by IU, contact tracers will provide further instructions and information for isolation. If the test was done by an outside provider or at home, submit the positive test result through the COVID-19 Self Report Form and continue isolating until contacted with further instructions.
Next steps for close contacts
For those who are identified as a close contact and are fully vaccinated (with or without a booster), a mask should be worn for 10 days, and a COVID-19 test should be taken five days after exposure. Quarantine is not necessary, but symptoms should continue to be monitored.
