Alvaro Tori, MD, has been named associate dean for diversity affairs at IU School of Medicine. An assistant dean on the diversity team since 2014, Tori has led a broad scope of initiatives spanning all three pillars of IU School of Medicine’s strategic framework for diversity: representational diversity, inclusive working and learning environment, and cultural competence. In his new role, Tori will carry on the exemplary work of his predecessor Mary Guerriero Austrom, PhD, who passed away in October.

As a result of Tori’s appointment, Faculty Affairs, Professional Development, and Diversity is seeking an assistant dean for diversity affairs. Interested candidates must be a faculty member (MD and/or PhD) interested in designing sustainable programming and initiatives that fulfill the school’s three pillars of diversity. The individual in this role will work with several stakeholder groups; however, primary attention will be given to learners and trainees.

The application deadline is Friday, February 7.
