Elective 1: Anesthesia 53AN702 (4-week)

Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor of Anesthesia

This is a 4-week clinical anesthesia elective. Students will learn the skills and knowledge to effectively manage emergency resuscitation. They will utilize techniques including but not limited to pulmonary artery catheterization, fiber optic endotracheal intubation, arterial catheterization, endobronchial intubation, nasotracheal intubation. Students may also work with special situations such as obstetrical anesthesia and trauma surgery. One-on-one discussions with preceptors on ethics and morality of medicine including end-of-life care, cost/benefit analysis, MedicalReview Panel, Legislation, drug addiction, and medical policy.

Please contact Regional Coordinator to register for this course.  Students must be fit tested within the last academic year to take this elective.
