Affirming diversity is an essential element in accomplishing the research, teaching and service missions of IU School of Medicine and in providing culturally competent health care. A diverse physician workforce is essential to meet the needs of the rapidly changing demographics of Indiana communities in today’s environment. IU School of Medicine is committed to establishing an organizational culture in which differences—including race, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation and other physical abilities and qualities—are present and highly valued and where all people are inspired, supported and encouraged to fully participate in the rich environment of this academic institution.

Program to Launch Underrepresented in Medicine Success (PLUS)

PLUS is designed to support the success of underrepresented minority faculty in academic medicine. Initiated in 2010 as a diversity recruitment program, and re-launched as a faculty development cohort program in 2018, the program helps retain and promote high talent minority faculty who have the expertise and skills to enhance IU School of Medicine’s mission.
