About UME

Welcome to the Office of Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) at the Indiana University School of Medicine!

UME is responsible for promoting and enhancing undergraduate medical education at IUSM through curriculum development, student assessment, and program evaluation. In collaboration with our educational partners across the state, we are dedicated to providing an outstanding medical education for our students. UME faculty and staff are deeply committed to the success of our students and to the continual improvement of our educational programs.

As the second largest medical school in the nation and the only medical school in the state of Indiana, IUSM is uniquely positioned to offer a variety of urban, rural, and research opportunities in addition to its core biomedical science and clinical curriculum. We are proud of our competency-based curriculum, one of the first such programs in the nation, which helps students develop into compassionate, engaged, and highly competent physicians.
