CRITERIA FOR IUSM-SB SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS
Indiana University School of Medicine-South Bend (IUSM SB) is able to sponsor several scholarships as the result of the generosity of a community that wishes to see the medical school thrive and the next generation of doctors prepared to serve Northern Indiana .
All scholarships are awarded on a one-year basis on the following criteria:
Enrollment: Awards are made contingent on the recipient’s enrollment in the South Bend campus; intent to matriculate on the South Bend campus for four years is favored.
Academics: Awards are made on the basis of candidates’ success in their classes and their clinical experiences.
Professionalism: The quality of candidates’ demeanor with faculty, staff, physicians and patients is considered.
Leadership: Participation in community outreach and engagement, and/or service as class and IUSM student leaders, is considered.
Donor Intent: Some IUSM-SB scholarships specify additional qualifications regarding residency or undergraduate college attended. The selection committee adheres to these qualifications in addition to the above criteria.
Selection Process: Due to the small size of each class and the familiarity of administration with each student, no formal application process is necessary. Further inquiries should be addressed to Gail Hinchion Mancini, Director of Public Affairs and Communications, gmancini@iupui.edu.
