Thank you for your interest in medical education at Indiana University School of Medicine - South Bend (IUSM-SB). We are committed to providing education of the highest quality to medical students in the state of Indiana. Our program at IUSM-SB strives to incorporate an approach to teaching the art of medicine from early patient exposure to a team approach to patient care. A number of ways IUSM-SB offers innovative contributions to educating future physicians:
- IUSM-SB offers a competency-based curricula across all four years of medical education;
- IUSM-SB is one of the first campuses to use the team-based learning methodology to replace traditional lecture techniques with student teams focused on problem-solving clinical vignettes;
- IUSM-SB expanded into a four-year medical education training site whereby students fulfill not only the first two years at this location but can elect to experience the required clerkship rotations and electives in years three and four;
- IUSM-SB is launching into medical education research with foci on peer assessment, team-based learning and patient-doctor communication;
- IUSM SB offers the opportunity to enroll in a MD/PhD program with the University of Notre Dame.
