Dr. Sutton has an interest in the cellular and molecular mechanisms of acute kidney injury with a particular focus on endothelial and tubular epithelial injury and the close interaction between vascular, tubular and inflammatory alterations that together comprise the clinical presentation of acute kidney injury. His lab employs both animal and cell culture models of acute kidney injury and utilizes a variety of biochemical, molecular, and advanced imaging techniques such as intravital multiphoton microscopy in his investigation.
Research Interests:
Mechanisms of microvascular and endothelial cell dysfunction following acute kidney injury with an emphasis on ischemia-reperfusion injury.
Clinical Interests:
- Acute Kidney Injury
- General Nephrology
- Dialysis
