Dr. Friedman has formal training in nutrition as well as nephrology. His active research interests include the effects of obesity and weight loss on kidney health and disease and the influence of long chain omega-3 fatty acids on clinical outcomes in chronic kidney disease patients. His research is currently funded by a number of private and public organizations, including the National Institutes of Health. In addition to his research interests, Dr. Friedman enjoys caring for acute and chronically ill patients with kidney disease and related illnesses, and is currently medical director for one of IU Health’s dialysis clinics.
