Bras Across Broad Ripple RT Image - October 2010 

Radiography students a local radio station and a pub joined efforts to hold an event for breast cancer awareness month. The event was called Bras Across Broad Ripple. Supporters were encouraged to decorate bras in honor or in memory of family members or friends who had fought breast cancer. Indiana University first-year radiography students Kelsay Scott and Toni Padgett organized an event for their fellow students. All proceeds went to Susan. G. Komen for the Cure.

Cytotechnology Geraldine Colby Zeiler Award - August 2010 

Enola Okonkwo, recipient of the William M. Plater Civic Engagement Medallion Award & Tracy Watkins, recipient of the Liang-Che Outstanding Student of the year are 2010 award winners for The Geraldine Colby Zeiler Award.  An award for Students of Cytotechnology established in memory of the late Geraldine Colby Zeiler, who trained at the Mayo Clinic.  The awards are funded through the College of American Pathologists Foundation and administered by the American Society of Cytopathology (ASC). 

2010 Civic Engagement Showcase - April 2010

At the 2010 Civic Engament Showcase held on April 6th Enola Renee Okonkwo was named a recipient of the William M. Plater Civic Engagement Medallion Award.  The William M. Plater Civic Engagement Medallion recognizes students who have demonstrated exemplary commitment to their communities during their years as an IUPUI student.  The medallion is named in honor of IUPUI's former Executive Vice Chancellor and Dean of the Faculties from 1988 to 2006, Dr. William Plater, a strong advocate of civic engagement during his career.

 
Chancellor's Scholar Award - April 2010

During the Chancellor's Honors Convocation held on April 16th, Allison Liechty received the 2010 Chancellor's Honor Scholar.  Ms. Liechty is completing course work that will lead to the conferring of the degree Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science at the end of June.  The Chancellor's Scholar Award is bestowed on an outstanding student in each of IUPUI's 20 academic units who has achieved the highest level of academic performance while working toward completion of their degree.
 
 IUPUI Top 100 Student Recognition Awards - April 2010

At the April 8th IUPUI Top 100 Student Recognition Awards, Morgan Mills (Radiography) received recognition as one of IUPUI's Top 10 Female Students for 2010.  The Top 100 IUPUI Student Award is sponsored by the IUPUI Alumni Council and the Student Organization for Alumni Relations (SOAR).  This award recognizes students for scholastic achievement, extracurricular activities on campus, as well as civic and community service. 

 
March 2010 - Clinical Laboratory Science
Bernadette Rodak, MS, Professor of Clinical Laboratory Science in the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine has been named Editor-in-Chief of Clinical Laboratory Science, the official journal of the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science.  Professor Rodak has served as the Editor of the clinical practice section of the journal for the past six years.
 
March 2010 - Nuclear Medicine Technology

2010 IUPUI Research Day Presentations - Catherine Henderson, Emily Gaither and Ethan Penn will be participating in IUPUI's Open House celebration of its cutting-edge and multifaceted research and scholarly activities.  Catherine Henderson will present orally on March 31st at 10:20am to 10:35am in the Campus Center room 310. Emily Gaither will present orally on March 31st at 1:20pm to 1:35pm in the Campus Center room 310. Ethan Penn will present orally on April 2nd at 11:40am to 12 noon in the University Library room 2115E.  Presentation of posters for all three senior students will be Friday, April 9th from 9am to 11am in the Campus Center room 450.

2010 Central Chapter Society of Nuclear Medicine Spring Meeting - Catherine Henderson & Lisha Combs have been chosen as student representatives for the 2010 Spring Meeting of the Central Chapter of Nuclear Medicine. Senior Nuclear Medicine Technology students Ethan Penn, Robert Ralston, Jordan Stauffer and Whitney Twitty have research papers accepted for presentation at the Center Chapter of the Society of Nuclear Medicine spring meeting. Mr. Penn's presentation is titled Lead Exposure in Nuclear Medicine. Mr. Ralston's presentation is titled Radiation Exposure in Unrestricted Areas Near a New PET/CT Facility.  Mr. Stauffer's presentation is titled Music & the Effect on Patient Care During Myocardial Imaging.  Ms. Twitty's presentation is titled 99mTc MDP Residual Activity in Needles & Needle Caps.  For more information on this meeting, please visit this site.  

 
October/November 2009 - Radiologic & Imaging Sciences

IU School of Medicine's Radiologic & Imaging Sciences Program received national recognition in the publication The Scanner (Oct/Nov 2009) which is produced by the ASRT (American Society for Radiologic Technologists) for their involvement in community service through their course RADI-R 226 (Imaging a Diverse Population).
