Message from the Chairman

Welcome to the Indiana University Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery website.  Our department has a proud tradition of achievement dating back to 1909.  This Web Page describes our departmental clinical programs, our research, and residency program.

Our faculty physicians are nationally and internationally renowned experts in the medical and surgical treatment of diseases of the ear, nose, throat, head and neck.  Our audiologists and speech language pathologists provide state of the art expertise in the communication sciences.

The Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery residency program is the only residency in our specialty in the state of Indiana.  Over half of the otolaryngologist-head and neck surgeons in the state of Indiana have trained in our department.  The others are key practitioners across the nation.  We also train medical students in the IU School of Medicine and audiology students who are earning their Doctor of Audiology degree.

Our scientists and clinician-investigators perform a broad range of research including cochlear implants in children and adults, infant speech perception, stem cell research in the auditory system and voice rehabilitation.

We are delighted to have you explore our Web Site and learn more about the Department and its many programs.
