A very bright star was extinguished when a motorcycle accident took the life of Dr. Keith Woodard on June 25, 2008. Keith, a 1992 graduate of the Indiana University School of Medicine, was an anesthesiologist by training, but he was so much more. He was a humanitarian who dedicated himself to making life better for others in Indianapolis and beyond. Keith traveled to Indonesia to treat those affected by the tsunami, visited New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and provided medical care in Kenya. In his memory, the Keith J. Woodard, M.D., Memorial Scholarship has been established at the IU School of Medicine. With your help, we hope to raise $100,000 to endow the fund. The principal will be invested, and interest will be used to award an annual scholarship to provide travel, lodging and other support for a student engaged in medical mission work. Preference will be given to an under-represented minority medical student in the junior or senior year. Please make a gift today. Together, we can ensure that Keith's legacy lives on at the IU School of Medicine. |
