As is the case for women, abuse often has long-term health and psychological consequences for child victim, elders, and men. People who witness abuse (their own or that of others) as children often end up with psychiatric or physical disorders themselves; additionally, boys who have lived in abusive households are more likely to become abusers and girls are more likely to be abusd when they grow up.
Elderly victims of abuse are more likely to be sicker and receive less medical care than their unabused counterparts.
