Department of Dermatology

 

The faculty and staff of the Department of Dermatology are committed to providing superior educational training for its residents in Dermatology. The residency program is a three-year program of dermatology with two positions categorical (including a one year internship at Indiana University) and one position without internship.  The residency program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.

The Department of Dermatology treats patients at University Hospital James Whitcomb Riley Hospital for Children, Wishard Memorial Hospital, and the Richard L. Roudebush VA Hospital. Patients are also seen in our satellite office in Carmel, Indiana.  In addition, outpatients from the tri-states Indiana, Illinois and Ohio are referred by primary care physicians or other professionals.

Goals of Residency Training:

  1. To develop self-directed, self-motivated, lifelong learners
  2. To foster development of problem solving skills
  3. To foster development of critical thinking skills
  4. To develop knowledgeable residents, with a thorough depth and breadth of knowledge in Dermatology
  5. To develop self-confidence and awareness of clinical limitations
  6. To prepare for the rapidly evolving aspects of manage care
