Research Interests:

My research interests are in the areas of clinical nephrology and hypertension.  Topics of interest to me are:

  • Prevention and treatment of contrast induced nephropathy
  • Myoglobinuruc acute renal failure
  • Acute renal failure in the context of multiple organ system failure
  • Toxic shock syndromes
  • Management of acute renal failure
  • TTP, HUS and renal failure related to infectious diseases, particularly viral disease

In the area of chronic renal failure, my interests are in the treatment of anemia and the evaluation of general medical recommendations, as they apply to the patient on maintenance dialysis.

In the area of glomerular disease, I am interested in:

  • The diagnosis and treatment of IgA nephropathy
  • Focal sclerosing glomerulonephritis
  • Renal vasculitic syndromes, particularly ANCA-related disease

In the area of fluid and electrolyte and acid-base metabolism, I have an interest in potassium metabolism and disorders of sodium and water metabolism.
